Background and History

DC Comics was founded on 25^th of June, 1934 by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson, as National Allied Publications. The initials DC stands for Detective Comics, the issue of comic by the same name which introduced us The Batman. The first issue that was introduced by DC was New Fun: The Big Comic Magazine which had some famous DC characters including Jack Woods. The titled changed to Adventure Comics which was one of the longest running titles, till 1983. The 3rd title was Detective Comics which introduced to us Batman. This title is the 3^rd and last title of Major Malcolm. The 4^th title was the Action Comics which introduced to us The Superman in 1983.

Now a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Entertainment which itself is owned by Times Warner. Along with Marvel, they own 80% of the comic’s market share.
